Thinking the Opposite 〜逆境から光を見出そう〜

I like spending my time thinking. Of course, this process will get me to action but I really spend much time thinking.

In this article, I’d like to explore the power of thinking.

私は考え事に時間を費やすのが中々好きである。勿論のこと、思考の結果として私は行動を起こすのだが、それでも考えるのは楽しいものである。

今回の記事では、考えることの力について探究してみたい。

A person is the product of his or her thinking. Thought in one’s subconscious mind makes the personality manifest. The Bible says,

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior—one who manipulates]. He says to you, “Eat and drink,” Yet his heart is not with you [but it is begrudging the cost].

Proverbs 23:7 (AMP)

人は、その人の考え方の産物である。潜在意識による思考は、人格を形造っている様なのだ。聖書によると、

その人の心の中の考えが、その人の本当の姿である。彼はあなたに「食え、飲め」と言うけれども、その心はあなたに真実でない（心のなかで勘定している）。

In my view, two substances are influential to our thinking- memory and current circumstance (reality). These two can be said in one word as information. What you can not forget from yesterday is information (of the past). In the same way, what you find yourself surrounded by such as financial status is a piece of information. 

私が思うに、私たちの記憶と現実（現在置かれている状況）は自分たちの考えの形成に大きな影響を及ぼす。これらの2つは一言で「情報」と置き換えることが出来る。それは、昨日起こったことで忘れられないことであったり、あなたが置かれているシチュエーション（お金のこと等）だ。

The point I think is that we have a choice as to how to handle such information. In other words, the reality and the fact may remain the same but you can choose your own attitude.

いかに自分たちの持っている情報を取り扱うか、ということについて、私たちには選択権がある。言い換えると、現実や事実は変わらないけれど、それらに「どう向き合うか」（attitude）は選ぶことが出来るのである。

What is attitude? It is:

Our choices as to how to behave, react, or respond to something.

よく「態度」と和訳されるこのattitudeとは何なのか。それは、

どの様に物事を捉えるかのチョイス

である。

God has given us free will, which is the most powerful force here on earth. Therefore, we have to choose- this is not automatic at all!

神様は私たちに物事を選択する力（free will）を下さった。これは、地球上で最も強く働いている力である。よって、私たちはどの様な状況にあっても必然的に選択するすることを求められる。それは自動では無い。

Moreover, the earth is the colony given to us by God. This authenticates the statement that human will is the most powerful force here on earth. If it is not, we would not (need to) pray in the first place. We are the governors of the planet Earth- we got to take good care of our territory!!

更に、地球という惑星は神様から人間に与えられた植民地である。これは、人間の意思が地球上で最強であることを裏付けている。そうで無ければ、どうして人が神様に祈るかということを考えてみて欲しい。地球の統治者として私たち人間には責任が与えられている。あなたの身の回りで、変えられねばならないことは無いだろうか。

The heavens are the heavens of the Lord , But the earth He has given to the children of men.

Psalms 115:16

When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Lately, I’m learning to think the opposite.

This does not mean denying your mistakes or things being messed up in your life.

Opposite thinking helps us to get over them.

最近、逆の発想をすることについて私は学んでいる。

これは、失敗や都合の悪いことを否定する、というのでは無い。

むしろ、逆の発想をすることでそれらを乗り越えよう、というものである。

As I observe it and practice to renew my mind, I’ve discovered two things:

1. Knowledge is essential to move forward in life.
2. Knowledge means nothing if its lesson is not applied. It takes faith to carry out the lesson.

そのことを考え、心を日々新たにしようと試みた私は、2つのことを発見した:

1. 知識は人生を豊かにするものであり、人が前に進むのに必要不可欠である。
2. 実践無きところに知識は無意味である。その教えんとする所を実践するにあたっては時に信仰を要する。

Power is invested in our mouths. What you say and keep saying determines where you go (your destiny). Speaking out is important, however, it has to go together with your actions. Nobody becomes a billionaire without investments. That investment can be reading books, betting a certain amount of money on a small business, or learning from people. Therefore, if a person desires to become rich but only speaks and does nothing to support what he or she claims to become, it is like trying to catch the wind. 

私たちの口にはとんでもない力が凝縮されている。口に出し、語り続けることが運命を決める（切り拓く）のだから。であるから、言葉は大切なのだが、一方で発言には行動が伴わなければならない。例えば、投資無しに億万長者は誕生するだろうか。その投資とは読書であったり、小さなビジネスに賭けてみること（投資）であったり、若しくは同じフィールドで活躍する他人から学ぶ、といったものがあるだろう。したがって、仮に誰かが億万長者を志したとして、ただそうなりますと言うだけでその宣言に従って行動を起こしていなければ（土台を固めていなければ）、その人は風を捕まえようとしているに等しい。

Dreaming is good. What matters is your actions as you chase your dreams. When you want to become top in the class, you would study harder (and smarter) than others. Would you perform academically well while you don’t study? Of course not- to get good scores in exams, we must study.

大志を抱くことは確かに素晴らしいことだ。それと同時に、夢を叶える為にどの様なこと（行動）を積み上げてゆくかを考えるべきことも忘れてはならない。クラスで成績トップになりたいのだとしたら、あなたは他の人よりも多くの時間を勉強に費やすだろう（若しくは、スマートな勉強方法の発見を試みるだろう）。勉強をしないでダラダラしている人が、良い成績を取るだろうか（注: サラッとやってのける強者もいる様だが…）。テストで高得点を取るには、やはりちゃんと勉強せねばならないだろう（私も例外ではないorz）。

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

We have discussed earlier in this article that a person is the product of his or her thinking. We got to master how to think rightly in every situation. This means that we are to take good care of our hearts.

本記事の初めの方で、人はその人の考える通りの人間であることについて触れた。私たちは、どの状況にあっても正しく考えることが求められる。というのは、私たちは自分たちの心の状態を常に注視すべきであるということだ。

When the heart is focused, it helps us see hope in crisis. On the other hand, the heart in chaos turns everything into self-condemnation. The heart in the right state sees the future from mistakes, while the paralyzed heart drags a person back to the swamp of the past (which can not be changed)!

心の焦点が定まっていると、危機的状況下にあっても希望を見出すことが出来る。一方で心が混沌としていると物事を自分を責めることに用いてしまう。心がすわっていると、例え失敗をしたとしても未来に目を向ける余裕を創り出すことが可能になる。逆に気が動転しているとその人は過去の（変えられない）沼に引きずり込まれてしまうので、最大限の注意が必要である。

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

We are supposed to see the light in every situation. Sometimes we may feel carrying out is much harder than knowing what to do, but as we get more and more experience, I believe we will get better because of the archive within our hearts.

どんな境遇にあっても光を見出そう。何かを知っていることと、それを実際に行動に移すことはそれぞれ別の問題である。言うのは簡単、実行するのが中々難しいという壁にぶち当たる人は多いのでは無いだろうか。

それでも、経験を積んでゆく過程で、心の経験値が上がってゆき、私たちは小さなレベルアップを繰り返してゆくものだと私は思うことにした。

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].
