Mirror of our hearts

 

 

There is a saying in Japan. People say “Yamai wa ki kara” meaning, sickness comes from your thinking. As I observe life nowadays, this proverb began to seem very true in essence.

日本には「病は気から」ということわざがある。最近、人生を観察してみて、この言葉がとても本質を突いてる様に思えてきた。

 

 

It was only a few years ago that I realized that the damage you get to your heart eventually affects your body. For example, the way you interpret your current life status will influence your health- first mentally and then physically. A question arises in my mind, “Why is there a manifestation of what I don’t see (mental/ spiritual realm) into what I see (physical realm)”?

心の（目に見えない）傷が身体的に悪影響を及ぼすことは、私が最近発見したことである。例えば、あなたの人生の現在地をどう捉えるかはあなたの健康を左右することを知っているだろうか。その影響はまずメンタルから、そして身体的と続くのだ。そう考えた時、私の頭の中にとある質問が浮かんだ。「目に見えないことの現れ（精神的なもの／霊界で起こっていること）は、どうして目に見える世界に起こるのか」？

 

 

The answer to the question, in my opinion, rests on how we humans are created. Take a look at an interesting depiction of the Bible from the book of Genesis:

その答えは、私達人間がどう造られたかにあるのでは無いかと私は思う。聖書の一番最初の書、創世記に面白いことが書いてある:

 

 

then the Lord God formed [that is, created the body of] man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being [an individual complete in body and spirit].

Genesis 2:7

主なる神は土のちりで人を造り、命の息をその鼻に吹きいれられた。そこで人は生きた者となった。

創世記2:7 より

 

 

We are made up of two parts- physical parts from the dust, and spiritual parts from the breath of life. In short, we have a spirit within our bodies. I view that there is a correlation between spirit and body. The reaction of the body goes to the spirit. Likewise, the perception of the spirit influences the body, just like vibration. 

私達は、2つの「体」によって構成されている: 土のちりから出来ている目に見える部分と、命の息から出来ている霊的な（目に見えない）部分である。ここに、私は霊的体と肉体的体の切っても切れない関係性を見出した。身体で感じたことは私達の霊的体に伝達される。同じ様に、私達に内在する霊的人間が理解したことは目に見える体に影響するのだ。

 

 

I view the heart as the most intriguing part of the human body. Actually, I consider it a ‘captain’ of our bodies- what comes out of it is too powerful that affects both body and spirit. 

私は心が人間の体の中で一番よく出来た器官だと思っている。心は私達の体のキャプテン（主将）と呼ぶことも出来るだろう。心から出ることは、私達の肉体と霊体両方に多大な影響を及ぼすのだから。

 

 

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

Proverbs 4:23

油断することなく、あなたの心を守れ、 命の泉は、これから流れ出るからである。

箴言4:23 より

 

 

The Bible teaches us that we are to keep our hearts with our best. Why? Because out of our hearts come the issues of this life. Another translation says that we are to watch over our hearts. You see, we got to take really good care of our hearts. When we grow fruits, we become very conscious of them. We consider watering them, fertilising their ground, and making sure that they get to receive sunlight. When it is stormy outside, we manage so that the wind will not blow them away. In the same way, we must not be lazy in watching over our heart conditions.

心を油断することなく守りなさい、というのが聖書の教えている所である。それは何ゆえなのか。命に関わることは、心から出て来るのだ。「心を油断なく見守りなさい」という訳もある。

実に、私達は自分達の心をナメてはいけない。果物を育てる時、私達はそれがちゃんと育つように細心の注意を払うだろう。水をやりは勿論のこと、土を肥やし、日光が当たる所に植木鉢を置くのでは無いだろうか。外が荒れ模様であれば、風の当たらない所に移してあげるのだ。

同じく、心の状態を管理するにあたって私達は怠け者ではあってはならない。

 

 

The heart has the power to make the mouth speak. I believe that we speak what is in our hearts. If we don’t even mean it, lips utter according to the heart. That is the reason words are powerful and we should be very careful as to choose what words to speak out especially concerning our lives. There are many kinds of people but their characters are the exact presentation of their hearts.

心には、口を開かせ語らせる力がある。私達は大抵、心の中にあることを口が話すものだ。気づけば口が心にあることを無意識に話していることもある。それが故に言葉には物凄い力があり、私達は何を口から発するか、特に人生について何を語るか、言葉を慎重に選ぶことが求められる。この世の中には様々な人々がいるが、その性格が心の中を映している。

 

 

As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man

Proverbs 27:19

水が顔を映すように、心は人を映す。

箴言27:19 より

 

 

Therefore, the speech of mouth and the heart are related. When your heart becomes corrupt, what you speak becomes corrupt as well. When your words are corrupt, it shows that your heart is corrupt. The heart is the hub of your thoughts and words! Take a look at what Jesus says:

これであるから、口が喋ることと心の状態は親密な結びつきがある。心が汚れると、口から出る言葉も汚れてくる。言葉が汚れている時、それは心が汚れていることの印である。心は私達の考えと言葉の中枢となる器官である。

心について、イエスが言っていることを以下紹介してみたい:

 

 

But whatever [word] comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and this is what defiles and dishonors the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts and plans, murders, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, false testimonies, slanders (verbal abuse, irreverent speech, blaspheming).

Matthew 15:18-19

しかし、口から出て来るものは、心から出て来るので、これこそ人を汚す。 悪意、殺意、姦淫、みだらな行い、盗み、偽証、悪口などは、心から出て来るからである。

Let us stop for a moment and investigate the current affairs of our hearts.

The heart is where our success or failure begins.

ちょっと立ち止まって、心に耳を澄ましてみよう。

心は成功と失敗の鍵を握っているのだから。
