The Indescribable Gift 言い尽くせない贈り物

クリスマスがやってきた。サンタさんではなくて、クリスマスプレゼント／ツリーでもなくて、神様が私たちに下さった言葉に出来ない位素晴らしい贈り物に感謝しよう。

Here comes Christmas. Santa Claus, Christmas gifts and trees are popular this time around. In such a season, however, let us thank God for His indescribable gift.

私達の主であり救い主であるイエスを通して、私達のパパである神様は、私達に命の息を吹き入れて下さった。

God, our genuine daddy in heaven breathed us in through Jesus Christ, Who is our Lord and Savior.

‘この言に命があった。そしてこの命は人の光であった。’

（ヨハネ1:4)

‘In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. ‘

(John 1:4)

イエスは私達の命であって、人生は彼の中にある。この、イエスという「賜物」を神様は私たちに下さった。

彼は、神様自身の愛の表れなのだ。

聖書にはこう書いてある。

Jesus is our Life, and that Life is in Him. This Jesus, which is the Gift was freely given to us by God our Father in heaven.

Thus Jesus is the manifestation of God’s love toward mankind.

It is written,

‘神はそのひとり子を賜わったほどに、この世を愛して下さった。それは御子を信じる者がひとりも滅びないで、永遠の命を得るためである。 神が御子を世につかわされたのは、世をさばくためではなく、御子によって、この世が救われるためである。‘

（ヨハネ3:16-17)

‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.‘

(John 3:16-17)

クリスマスという日は、私達の人生について考えるキッカケを与えてくれると私は思う。以前の記事に書いたかも知れないが、誰も、自分の意思でお母さんのお腹の中から生まれてくることは出来ない。

Christmas gives us a chance to think about the value of our lives. No one can be born onself out of the woumb of our mothers.

私たちにどんな権威や称号や名誉があろうとも、富んでいようと貧しかろうと、神様に感謝するのが私達人間のつとめではないだろうか。私達は皆、神様の子どもたちなのだから。

Whatever authorities, titiles, or fame we posess, whether we are rich or poor, isn’t our duty to thank God? We are His children.

‘わたしは知っている。人にはその生きながらえている間、楽しく愉快に過ごすよりほかに良い事はない。 またすべての人が食い飲みし、そのすべての労苦によって楽しみを得ることは神の賜物である。 わたしは知っている。すべて神がなさる事は永遠に変ることがなく、これに加えることも、これから取ることもできない。神がこのようにされるのは、人々が神の前に恐れをもつようになるためである。‘

(伝道の書 3:12-14)

‘I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.’

(Ecclesiastes 3:12-14)

そんな「神様からの贈り物」であるイエスは、私達の為に命を捨てて下さった。私達の罪故に十字架にかけられて、ご自身を捧げられたのだ。

Jesus, Who is the Gift of God laid down His life for us. He Himself has bacome the Atoning Sacrifice for our sins, crucified on the cross.

罪あるところには死があるものである。聖書にある様に、

Where there is a sin, there follows death. The Bible says,

‘それは、イエス・キリストを信じる信仰による神の義であって、すべて信じる人に与えられるものである。そこにはなんらの差別もない。 すなわち、すべての人は罪を犯したため、神の栄光を受けられなくなっており、 彼らは、価なしに、神の恵みにより、キリスト・イエスによるあがないによって義とされるのである。‘

(ローマ3:22-24)

‘even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,‘

‘罪の支払う報酬は死である。しかし神の賜物は、わたしたちの主キリスト・イエスにおける永遠のいのちである。‘

(ローマ6:23)

‘For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.‘

本当の意味でのクリスマス・プレゼントとはこの永遠のいのちである、と私は思う。いくら富があり、頭が良くて、モテモテだったとしても、いのちが無ければ何の意味があるだろう。

What is the genuine Christmas gift ? I believe it is the eternal life. Say if one has wealth, smart-brain, and good reputation. All these things would mean nothing if he or she passes away. What is of the world- including popularity in it is only for a short period of time.

‘人が全世界をもうけても、自分の命を損したら、なんの得になろうか。 また、人はどんな代価を払って、その命を買いもどすことができようか。‘

マルコによる福音書 8:36-37

‘For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? ‘

神様の愛が、イエスに表れた。その結果、イエスは十字架にかかって、私達の為に命を捨て、3日後に蘇（よみがえ）った。彼を信じる人には永遠の命が約束された。ここに、究極のクリスマス・プレゼントがある。

The love of God is manifested in Jesus. Consequently, Jesus was crucified on the cross, laying down His life for us, and rose again on the third day. Eternal life was guaranteed to those who believe (have faith) in Him. Here is the ultimate Christmas Gift.

‘神はそのひとり子を世につかわし、彼によってわたしたちを生きるようにして下さった。それによって、わたしたちに対する神の愛が明らかにされたのである。 わたしたちが神を愛したのではなく、神がわたしたちを愛して下さって、わたしたちの罪のためにあがないの供え物として、御子をおつかわしになった。ここに愛がある。’

(1ヨハネ4:9-10)

‘In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.‘

(1John 4:9-10)

計り知れない贈り物を、神様は下さった。

本当に頭が上がらない。

Indeed, God has given us the indescribable Gift.
